Nicholas Sherman
ACS, sees the world through a viewfinder. Like all artists, he
interprets the world, captures its essence and repackages it.
His is a collaborative art.
Nicholas collaborates
with writers, directors and actors; he colludes with lighting
people and make up folk; he consults with technicians and designers.
Most of all, he conspires with audiences to see, watch and look
at his art. For until it has evoked responses, there is no art,
just pictures in a cutting room.
Nicholas was
born and bred in St.Petersburg, Russia. Graduating from the Moscow
Film School, Nicholas laboured across the spectrum of cinema,
from features to documentary films receiving recognition and
awards for his cinematography.
In 1979, Nicholas
left Russia finally settling in Melbourne, Australia. Eye pressed
firmly to an antipodean viewfinder, he is the ever growing total
of his talent and artistic experiences.
